Creation of a new Functional and Olympic Lifting Room

This NEW area is a dedicated room with lots of floor space for whatever kind of functional training you may want to do, this includes but is not limited to:

Basic Gymnastics exercises: Pull-ups, Push-ups, Box jumps, Plyometrics etc…

Intermediate Gymnastics exercises on rings: Muscle-ups, Levers, Skin-the-Cat etc…

Kettle bell Conditioning: Swings, Cleans, Snatches, Turkish-get-ups etc…

Medicine Ball and Bosu Ball Training also…

Olympic Lifting Platforms: Clean and Jerk, Snatches plus all the supporting movements.

There are literally too many options here to explain. We offer an orientation and training on any of the above exercises and more. Also to note, while we do not do CrossFit classes at Odyssey if you are looking for a gym to do this type of training in we are the one for you. Most gyms shy away from this type of training as they fear it, we embrace it for those that want to perform their best possible in any given situation and will offer information on this style of training if you have questions and need guidance.

Odyssey Fitness is now going to be fully coed!

The main reasoning behind this was to allow all our members to take advantage of the floor space the gym offers, instead of having some of our members restricted from using certain areas, even if those areas were not being used.

With the introduction and popularity of a more functional style of training, floor space is required, so to address this we have done the following:

  • Created a separate room for functional training and floor space for all members to use who wish to swing a kettle bell, throw a medicine ball, train dynamically on a bosu-ball, plus many other creative exercises.
  • Created a space where there are lighter weights and machines for anyone who wishes not to venture over into the coed free weight area.
  • Returned the coed machine and free weight area to how it was and hopefully with the introduction of a few new key pieces of equipment over the next couple of weeks, make it even better than it used to be.

We did not make these decisions lightly and really do believe that this is the best solution for the most people. These changes allow us to put in new and exciting Functional Training Programs and Olympic Lifting Seminars that will set us apart from other clubs in town. This type of training is the most effective for anyone looking to be in the best overall shape possible and the best thing is anyone can do it. We hope you are as excited as we are.
